Scans & Plans was born inside an architecture and engineering practice. Our co-founder Miles Dake kept running into the same bottleneck at Dake Collaborative: getting accurate as-built documentation into the design workflow took too long and cost too much. So we built a better process.

We started by solving our own problem. A streamlined scanning workflow meant faster turnaround on as-builts, which meant architects could start designing sooner. But we quickly realized the same scanning process made us dramatically more efficient during Construction Administration phases too. Capturing progress scans let us locate MEP runs and structural elements as they were built, compare them against our designs in real time, and catch coordination issues before they became change orders.

That's when we knew this needed to be its own thing.

We built Scans & Plans so that any architect, general contractor, or homeowner could get access to the same process we rely on every day. We wanted to remove the friction that makes scanning feel like a big decision. That meant putting pricing online based on square footage so people know the cost before they ever talk to anyone, and opening up our calendar so scheduling a scan is as simple as picking a time that works. A certified technician captures the space, we handle the architectural processing, modeling, QA, and documentation, and files are delivered within days. The whole experience is designed to be straightforward from the first click to the final deliverable.
